Platinum Ankle Brace is PDAC-Approved PAL understands we have a responsibility to our clients and to their patients to be informed about any new requirements or changes regarding coding compliance and billing.We understand there has been much confusion regarding the Medicare "height requirement" for custom-molded AFOs, which took effect January 1, 2013.

According to cgsmedicare.com, the previously instituted policy is being revised:
"The related Policy Article for the Ankle-Foot Orthosis/Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis is being revised. The Policy Article with an effective date of January 1, 2013 included Coding Guidelines for AFOs that included a height requirement. The height requirement is being removed. The effective date for the revised Policy Article is for dates of service on or after January 1, 2013." 

As we have continuously stated since January 1, please continue dispensing PAL Ankle Braces with PAL's assurance that this product meets the criteria set forth by Medicare and PDAC.
